About Versiliy
Hi, I’m Versiliy, a Los Angeles–based artist and kelp material experimenter.
After three years of hands-on experimentation, I first released the work publicly in October 2025, presenting a collection of pendants at the California Seaweed Festival.
Since then, the practice has expanded to include rings, bracelets, earrings, hair sticks, sculptural chillums, and experimental lighting objects.
My material process is self-developed. I shape each piece by hand using custom-built tools and experimental treatments designed specifically for kelp.
I don’t use molds, casting, glue, or dyes. The material’s natural structure is meant to stay visible, not corrected.
The surfaces are textured and tactile, often described as wood- or leather-like. Rather than focusing on shine or visual perfection, I aim for warmth, physical presence, and natural asymmetry.
